ABOUT THE SPECTALCE BLUE AERIAL DANCE TEACHER TRAINING
Our syllabus and curriculum training is designed to build strong foundational training for students and teachers of aerial dance. With that foundation in hand performers and choreographers can explore the limitless creative possibilities that are afforded when you add the unique element of artist suspension to physically creative endeavours.

FOR TEACHERS
We offer safe, progression based training programs for dance teachers who want to enhance their studio offerings and creative options by implementing an aerial dance program at their studios. We offer Teacher Training in Trapeze, Hoop and Silks. These training programs are designed to give dance teachers the skills to safely teach aerial dance to there students and to incorporate aerial work to enhance their dance choreography.

FOR STUDENTS
Each apparatus contains 9 Grades. Students of certified studios can learn the art of Aerial Dance in a progressive manner with a focus on technique and form. Strength and flexibility as well as Aerial Dance Elements are trained to create well rounded dancers who can then enjoy the exploration and creative options that adding Aerial Dance to dance creations. Exams are available for each Grade in each apparatus.

THE TEACHER TRAINING COURSES
Each discipline is split into 3 teacher training courses.
TTL1 covers
- rigging
- safety and spotting
- anatomy
- all elements from grades 1-3

TTL2 covers
- rigging and safety review
- more detailed anatomy of the shoulder and rotator cuff with injury prevention of this area
- all elements from grades 4-6

TTL3 covers
- rigging and safety review
- partner work
- performance and safe practise standards for diverting from the strict technical confines of the syllabus for the purposes of creative choice.
- all elements from grades 7-9

In Trapeze TTL2 and TTL3 we also address the “Higher Ceilings” work

Courses run with a maximum of 10 teachers so that teachers get plenty of hands-on coaching time and they leave feeling confident in their abilities to take this home to implement in their studios with their dancers.

TEACHER CERTIFICATION
At the end of each course teachers receive a list of 3-4 elements from each Grade which they are required to teach and submit in order to pass and receive certification. The idea is that they go home and work with their students and record them teaching the elements. They are not graded on their student’s abilities but rather on their abilities to coach the elements in a safe manner with proper spotting technique and verbal directions to the dancers.

These videos will be graded, coaching notes will be provided with either a Pass or a Fail grade. A pass will come with a copy of their certification certificate. Teachers may submit videos as many times as required to pass.

**A PASS must be achieved before teacher will be allowed to register in the next level of the program

COURSE DETAILS
LENGTH = courses run for 1 day from 9am-6pm
REQUIREMENT = teachers need to bring at least 1 demonstrator. (if they take more than 1 course in a course session it is recommended that they bring a different student for each course as the students fatigue after a full day of aerial training. Particularly in the TTL1 sessions)
COST = Each course is $500 plus GST.

ON-LINE VIDEO MANUAL
Launching August 2018 is the SBAD On-Line video manual. Benefits of the On-Line membership is that updates are immediate. The video is beneficial for helping you get the most out of your course. If you ave forgotten some details from the course about how an element should look….that is available to you in live action.

Once you take a course you can become a member of the SBAD Certified Teacher’s Team and receive a code that will give you access to the material from the course you have taken.

Also available on-line will be supplemental work such as
- doubles
- higher ceilings
- drills

Once you take a second course your Membership fee does not go up, but you will get a then have to the additional course material you have taken.

- If you let your membership expire and don’t renew then your access to the On-Line Manual will terminate and you will need to contact the Spectacle Blue office to get a new access code that will be viable once you have renewed your membership.
- You cannot download the videos to your desktop or device
- This is on-line streaming and not at APP so you can have access from any devise with internet capabilities
- Your code is only good for log-in on 1 device
